…Urges Them To Intensify Efforts Toward Combating Crime In The LCDA

In line with the efforts of the Ekiti state government to combat crime in the state,the executive Chairperson of Irewolede Local Council Development Area (LCDA),Hon. (Mrs) Dupe Bakare on Monday held a strategic security meeting with security agents and critical stakeholders in the LCDA.
The meeting had in attendance key government functionaries at the LCDA, religious leaders, traditional rulers,driver unions,Okada Riders Association, market leaders, artisans, representative of the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (DSS), Peace Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Amotekun Corps, hunters and vigilante groups.
Also at the meeting were the representatives of various ethnic nationalities residing in the LCDA.
The meeting which was held behind closed doors centred on the need to intensify efforts and the need by various security agencies in the LCDA to partner with each other towards curbing crimes and other societal vices.
While addressing the gathering,the council boss said the state governor,Mr Biodun Oyebanji had given all the council chairmen in the state a marching order to to address all security challenges in their localities.
Hon. Bakare expressed her displeasure over the use of underage herders by the Fulani herdsmen, warned that any underage pastoralists caught in the LCDA will be arrested, while their bosses or guardians will also be arrested and prosecuted.
Bakare therefore called for the collective support and cooperation of the residents by supplying useful information to the security agents in order to boost their intelligence gathering.
Also speaking,the chairman of Irewolede Council of traditional rulers,the Oluloro of Iloro-Ekiti,HRM, Oba James Olugbesoye, urged the council authority to take accurate data of non-indegenes residing within the council area for proper identification.
The Monarch cautioned the beer sellers and medicine store owners against selling illicit drugs and drinks to the youths, saying such drugs could endanger their lives and encourage them to venture into criminal activities.
Oba Olugbesoye also called on religious leaders to continue to promote peace and love through their sermons.
In his contribution,Head of Local Council Administraion, Mr. Gbenga Sanya, implored all stakeholders to cooperate with the security agents in order to overcome security challenges confronting the nation.
