The August edition of the Security and Intelligence Committee Meeting of Irewolede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) was held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Irewolede LCDA Administrative Conference Room.
The meeting was presided over by the Executive Chairman of Irewolede LCDA, Hon. (Mrs.) Dupe Bakare, who appreciated the security operatives across the six communities that make up the council for their efforts in maintaining relative peace and security.
Reports presented by the various security agencies indicated that there was relative peace across the six communities, with only minor security challenges recorded. The security operatives noted that whenever such challenges occurred, they promptly swung into action to address the situations and prevent them from escalating.
The meeting also disclosed that regular security raids and patrols were being carried out across the six communities by the various security agencies to rid the council area of hoodlums, criminals and other anti-social elements.
The security operatives further raised concerns over the sale of alcoholic drinks in sachets, noting that the Federal Government had placed a ban on the production and sale of sachet alcoholic drinks. They warned that anyone found violating the relevant regulations could face sanctions in accordance with the law.
The committee also urged residents to desist from dumping refuse into drainage channels, stressing that such practices could cause blockages, flooding and other environmental hazards.
Hon. Bakare reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies and ensuring that Irewolede LCDA remains peaceful and safe for residents, businesses and visitors.
She called on residents, community leaders and other stakeholders to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information and cooperating with efforts aimed at preventing crime and maintaining peace.
Present at the meeting were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Samson Kolawole; Secretary, Hon. Adebo Adewale; Head of Local Council Development Area, Mr. Babatunde Vincent; and Director of Administration, Mr. Oladele Olutoyin.
Representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Vigilante Group and Peace Corps also attended the meeting
