In what has become an annual practice since her inauguration into office as the pioneer Executive Chairperson of Irewolede Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, Hon. (Mrs) Dupe Bakare has again put smiles on the faces of pupils of public primary schools across the LCDA as she distributed thousands of exercise books and school bags to them, as they resumed for 2025-2026 academic session.
The event, which took place on Wednesday at the council secretariat, Iloro-Ekiti, was graced by dignitaries, including HRM Oba Moses Olunlade, the Onikun of Temidire-Ekiti, Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State governor on Local Intelligence, Hon. Folorunso Ajayi, Vice Chairman, Hon. Samson Kolawole, Secretary to the council, Hon. Adewale Adebo, HLA, Mr Vincent Babatunde, APC stalwarts, top management staff and religious leaders.
In her address, Hon. Bakare said the initiative, which is the third edition, was in line with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration’s vision of “Shared Prosperity”, saying the gesture will aid pupils’ learning during the new academic session.
Bakare emphasized the significance of the initiative, tagged “Back To School”, noting that education remains a top priority for her administration.
“This gesture is a testament to our belief in the power of education to shape futures and build stronger communities. By providing these essentials, we hope to alleviate some of the financial pressures on parents and ensure our pupils have what they need to focus on learning and growing”. She stated.
The council boss, who described education as the “key to unlock dreams”, enjoined the pupils to face their studies seriously and make judicious use of the materials given to them.
In his goodwill message, the Onikun of Temidire-Ekiti, Oba Moses Olunlade, expressed satisfaction with the excellent performance of Hon. Bakare, saying the LCDA has witnessed tremendous growth under her leadership.
Mrs Christianah Akinleye of St. Paul’s Catholic Primary school, Ijurin-Ekiti and Asha Jenifa of St. Mary’s Catholic Primary school, Iloro-Ekiti, spoke on behalf of the Teachers and pupils respectively.
They expressed their appreciation to the council authority, noted that the gesture was timely and impactful.
