As part of the fulfilment of her promises of making lives meaningful and prosperous for the people of her Irewolede LCDA, The chairman Irewolede Local Govt Development Area , Mrs Dupe Bakare, on Thursday 19th January, 2023, laid the foundation for the Market Square of one of the Communities in the LCDA, Temidire Ekiti.

 

Speaking during the foundation laying ceremony, Mrs Bakare expressed her profound appreciation to the former governor of Ekiti State Dr Kayode Fayemi for creating the LCDA , And also thanked the present Governor of Ekiti , Mr Biodun Oyebanji for making money available for the smooth running of the LCDA and for the development of the State.

 

She commended the people of the LCDA , particularly the the people of Temidire Ekiti, for their unannoyed supports for her Gov’t and that of the whole state. While enjoining the people to always pray for the success of the government, She opined that the foundation laying of Temidire’s Market was the tip of the iceberg among several huge developments coming to the Irewolede LCDA. And that the train of development that started in Temidire would move across all the Towns and villages of the LCDA.

Among the notable dignitaries that graced the occasion were the former Chief of Satff to the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State , Hon. Biodun Omoleye, The Royal Father of the Town , HRH Oba Moses Onihunlade Fabusuyi(The Onikun of Temidire), Secretary to the LCDA , Party Stalwarts and jubilant indigenes of the Town.

 

In His remarks, Oba Fabusuyi, who also said the opening prayers , blessed God for making the day a reality and showered encomium on the government of APC, Hon. Mrs Bakare and Hon. Abiodun Omoleye for deeming it fit to build the market square in the town, a feat He said would forever remain indelible in the history of the Town.

 

In her final remarks, Hon. Mrs Bakare urged the poeple of the community to vote en-masse for Hon. Biodun Omoleye in the forthcoming National Assembly Election. Hon. Omoleye is contesting for the House of Representatives in Ekiti Central Con.2 comprising Ekiti west, Efon and Ijero Lacal Govts.

The market square, when completed would be the first of its kind in the history of the modern day Temidire Ekiti.

As part of efforts to improve the quality of education and give opportunity to students from all backgrounds in Irewolede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the Chairperson of the council, Hon (Mrs) Dupe Bakare has distributed thousands of exercise books to pupils and students in all the public primary and secondary schools in the six towns that made up the LCDA.

Hon Bakare in her speech said her decision to distribute the exercise books was to key into the compulsory and free education policy of the state government under the leadership of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.


According to her, laying a solid foundation for the pupils is very important, especially at the primary level, maintained that it will give her joy to see the children grown to useful adulthood.


The council boss who interacted with some of the students, emphasized the important of character, in addition to learning, advised them to be disciplined and study hard in order to achieve greatness.


Hon Bakare applauded governor Fayemi for creating additional 19 LCDAs across the state, said the gesture has brought government nearer to the people and gave smaller communities a sense of belonging. She expressed gratitude to the Governor and his wife for given her the opportunity to serve her people at the grassroots.


She also thanked all the traditional rulers in the LCDA and their prominent indigenes for their immense contribution to the development of the council area.


Hon Bakare promised that she will continue to prioritize the welfare of the people throughout her tenure.

Also speaking, the head of local council administration, Mr Omotayo Titiloye, highlighted various achievements of the council boss since inception into office like extension of electricity and repainting of the secretariat, purchasing of communication gadgets to the information unit, furniture for staff as well as rendering support to the various security agencies to aid their works.


In his remarks, the Alayegunle of Ayegunle-Ekiti, Oba Jonhson Aderiye who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, congratulated Hon Bakare, described her 100 days in office as remarkable. Oba Aderiye lauded Bakare for laying a solid foundation for the council, maintained that all the traditional rulers are satisfy with the way she is running the council, urged her to keep the good work going.


Master Daniel Olusegun from Ijurin Comprehensive High School and Miss Ifeoluwa Adeola of Temidire High School, who spoke on behalf of the students expressed appreciation to the council boss for her kind gestures, promised they will make good use of the materials given to them.


There were goodwill messages from the former Chief of staff, Hon Biodun Omoleye, Education Secretary, Ijero local government, Pastor Lawrence Egbeyemi and Ojurin of ijurin-Ekiti, HRM Oba Joachim Afolabi.


The event was attended by the former Chief of Staff,Hon Biodun Omoleye,represented by his Special Assistant, Prince Adeoye Ajibola, the Executive Director, Finance, FERMA, Hon Dapo Kolwawole, represented by Hon Isaac Komolafe, executive Chairman, Ijero local government, Hon Adeola Adeyemo, Executive Chairman Irede LCDA, Hon Gbenga Bobade and his wife, vice Chairman, Irewolede LCDA, Chief Samson Kolwawole,his counterpart from Irede, hon Fabunmi Olusola, Alayegunle of Ayegunle-Ekiti, Oba Jonhson Aderiye, Ojurin of ijurin-Ekiti,Oba Joachim Afolabi,Onikun of Temidire-Ekiti, Oba (Evang.) Moses Olunlade and Oluloro of Iloro-Ekiti, Oba James Olugbesoye, represented by the Esaaro of Iloro-Ekiti, High Chief Olusola Alofe. Leader, Ijero local government legislative arm, Hon Idowu Osunyomi led other Councillors to the event, while some party leaders, Women Support Group and numerous well wishers also graced the occasion.


Meanwhile, the Chairperson had earlier on Wednesday, 11th May, organized an health talk for the female students in public schools across the LCDA,with the topic “Girl Child At Puberty”.


 The resource person, a medical expert and former Principal, School of Nursing, Ido-Ekiti,Mrs Funmi Olotu, said adolescence is an important period of life during which several psychological,social and physical changes happen.


The medical expert maintained that providing educational programmes during puberty has a crucial role in the life of young girls.


Mrs Olotu urged the female students not to exhibit shyness or fear in explaining what they are passing through at puberty stage, particularly during menstruation, to their parents or guardians.


Sanitary pads were also distributed to the students at the event.
