
Children from various public primary and secondary schools across Irewolede Local Council Development Area, were in the high spirits today as the maiden edition of International Children’s Day was celebrated in the LCDA.
The event which took place at Iloro Community High School,featured varieties of activities such as match pass and cultural dances.

The Chief Host who is also the Executive Chairperson of the Council, Hon.(Mrs) Dupe Bakare, while congratulating the children for witnessing their special day, described the event as historical, being the first of its kind in the LCDA.
In her speech,Hon. Bakare, described children as the heartbeats of every community,who must be taken care of,with good moral and western education.

The council boss expressed appreciation to His Excellency, the governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji and his wife,Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji,for their commitment to the total well-being of the children in the state through quality education and skills development.
She added that the present administraion in the state has invested so much in the education of children and youths with regular distribution of writing materials, renovation of schools,free distribution of GCE and JAMB forms, payment of WAEC fees to students in public schools and provision of conducive environment.
Bakare reaffirmed her commitment in ensuring that every child has access to quality education, health care and a safe learning environment.
“We pledge to continue our efforts in creating opportunities for our children to thrive and reach their fullest potential”.
“Our vision is to build a community where every child can fully pursue their dreams extensively and reach their potential in a competitive world,learn effectively and grow up in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Hon. Bakare advised the children to be of good moral behaviour,honesty and fear of God in whatever they do and also concentrate on their education in order to justify the huge investment in them by their parents and the government.
At the end of the match pass,Ayetoro/Iloro High School came first in the secondary schools category,while St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Iloro-Ekiti came first in the primary school category.
Gifts and trophies were presented to the first, second and third positions.
The children, who were delighted with various activities put together to mark the occasion, expressed appreciation to the council’s authority.

Present at the event were the Vice Chairman of the council,Hon. Samson Kolawole, Secretary, Hon. Adebo Adewale, Councillors, Special Advisers, religious leaders and management staff of Irewolede LCDA.
Children’s day, which is celebrated in Nigeria on May 27 annually is dedicated to celebrating children all over the world and for adults to remember their childhood experiences. It’s a day to reflect on the importance of providing children with love,care, and opportunity to thrive.
