Hon. Bakare Flags Off 2nd Round Of NIPDs In Irewolede LCDA,Reiterates Commitment To Quality Health Delivery.

The Executive Chairperson of Irewolede Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, Hon.(Mrs) Dupe Bakare has flagged off the 2nd round of the National Immunization Plus Day (NIPDs) at Iloro-Ekiti,the council headquarters.

Speaking at the event,Hon. Bakare who was represented by her Vice,Hon. Samson Kolawole, reiterated her administration’s commitment to the health and well-being of the people, particularly children under five years of age.

The council boss stressed the importance of routine and supplementary Immunization in curbing the spread of vaccine-preventable disease, particularly polio and commended the federal, state governments as well as development partners for their supports.

She enjoined parents,guardians and caregivers to present their children for the immunization in order to safeguard them against preventable diseases.

The event concluded with symbolic immunization of children by the Vice Chairman, signalling the official commencement of the exercise across towns in the LCDA.

The NIPDs campaign is expected to run for several days, during which trained health workers will go from house to house,visit market places, churches, schools and other strategic locations to administer the oral polio vaccine.

The exercise forms part of Nigeria’s national strategy to maintain a polio-free status and improve child health outcomes across the country.

Director of Environmental Services, Irewolede LCDA, Mrs Mercy Ayileke, the health team, community leaders and other stakeholders were present at the event.
