The Executive Chairman of Irewolede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon.Mrs Dupe Bakare has commended the Federal Government’s Agricultural Renewal initiative, describing it as a strategic step toward enhancing food security nationwide.

This commendation was made during a one-day sensitization talk for farmers in Ijurin Ekiti and Iloro Ekiti today .
Represented by Vice Chairman of the Council,Hon. Samson Kolawole, Hon. Bakare emphasized the importance of farming and enlightened attendees on the requirements for farm land allocation within the council area.
Hon. (Mrs.) Dupe Bakare also commended the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for his unwavering commitment to developmental projects across the state.
While speaking, she further emphasized that Ekiti State has never lagged behind in the agricultural sector, noting that the state remains at the forefront of agricultural advancement in Nigeria.
She expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for launching this timely initiative, stating that over twenty hectares of land have been cultivated in both Iloro and Ijurin communities, ready for allocation to interested farmers from the six communities under the council’s jurisdiction.
The lands have been cleared and ploughed to reduce the workload on farmers, encouraging more participation.
Hon. Bakare extended appreciation to the traditional leaders of Iloro and Ijurin communities for generously releasing their lands for this impactful program.
Director of Agriculture& Natural Resources ,Mr. Falayi Omoniyi, urged farmers to adhere to safety regulations regarding chemical use and informed them of subsidized access to agricultural chemicals through the state government.
Speaking at the event ,HRM Oba Joachim Adeyemi Afolabi, The Ojurin of Ijurin Ekiti, encouraged the youth to see farming as a vital means of promoting self-sufficiency and food security within the community.
This initiative demonstrates the LCDA’s commitment to enhancing food security and promoting agricultural development in the region.
