The Irewolede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Hon. (Mrs.) Bakare, has successfully concluded a transparent bidding process for a street solar light project designed to improve infrastructure and enhance public safety across the council.
The bidding process, held at the council secretariat, attracted notable stakeholders and dignitaries who ensured transparency and accountability. Among the dignitaries present were the Zonal Inspector, Mr. Bola Babalola; a representative from the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Arowosola S.A.; His Royal Majesty, Oba James Olugbesoye, the Oluloro of Iloro-Ekiti; and the Head of the LCDA, Mr. Omotayo Titiloye.
The bidding session saw four contractors competing for the project in a process widely commended for its openness. Following the selection of the successful bidders, the contractors were charged to prioritize quality and professionalism in executing the project.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Bakare emphasized the significance of the project for the community, insisting on the delivery of a durable and efficient solar lighting system. “This project is vital for the safety and development of our people. We will not compromise on quality or accept substandard work. The contractors must deliver the best within the stipulated timeframe,” she declared.
The Zonal Inspector, Mr. Babalola, and His Royal Majesty, Oba James Olugbesoye, echoed her sentiments, urging the contractors to uphold the highest standards. Oba Olugbesoye highlighted the project’s potential to transform the community, boosting security and enabling economic activities at night.
Mr. Omotayo Titiloye, Head of the LCDA, reinforced the council’s commitment to monitoring the project, ensuring it adheres to agreed specifications. “This initiative symbolizes progress for Irewolede LCDA, and we will remain steadfast in ensuring its success,” he said.
One of the contractors, speaking on behalf of the bidders, expressed gratitude for the council’s transparency and fairness during the process. “The openness of this bidding process reflects the council’s commitment to good governance. We are honored to be part of this project and will deliver our best,” he stated.
The event also witnessed the presence of other notable council officials, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Samson Kolawole; Secretary to the Council, Hon. Adebo Adewale; Director of Procurement, Mrs. Odesanmi Jemnant; Director of Audit, Mrs. Olowoyo Itunu; Director of Works, Engr. Olusola Joseph; Director of Administration, Mr. Oladele Olutoyin; and Director of Finance, Mr. Idowu Francis, alongside other stakeholders.
The street solar light project is expected to significantly enhance security, promote nighttime economic activities, and improve the overall quality of life for residents of Irewolede LCDA. The council leadership has vowed to ensure thorough oversight and successful implementation of the project
