The first Security and Intelligence Committee meeting of the year 2026 was held today, Thursday, 29th January 2026, at the Mini Conference Hall, Irewolede LCDA Secretariat.
The Executive Chairman of Irewolede LCDA, Hon. (Mrs) Dupe Bakare, warmly welcomed top management officials and security operatives within the council, commending their continuous efforts in maintaining relative peace and stability across the LCDA.
During the meeting, serious concerns were raised about the increasing influx of strangers into the communities .The Chairman emphasized that urgent measures must be taken to properly monitor and regulate entry into Irewolede LCDA, noting that many of the new entrants are from Hausa and Fulani backgrounds.
She stressed that such movements require close attention to prevent potential security threats.
Furthermore, Hon. Bakare warned landlords and residents who accommodate newcomers to ensure strict compliance with community rules, traditions, and entry protocols. She reiterated that no individual should be allowed into the community without proper settlement and adherence to local regulations.
The Council Boss also called on all security agencies to strengthen collaboration and synergy in addressing the current security challenges facing Nigeria. She charged security operatives within Irewolede LCDA to remain proactive, vigilant, and united in the fight against crime.
She specifically urged the State Security Service (DSS) and other agencies not to relent in their efforts to safeguard the community from miscreants, hooliganism, banditry, kidnapping, and other social vices capable of disrupting peace and order.
Hon. Bakare further emphasized the need for tight security surveillance along all border areas of the council to prevent illegal migration from neighboring states.
