The Executive Chairperson of Irewolede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Mrs.) Dupe Bakare, has been selected for the 2026 Ekiti Parapo Honour Award in recognition of her leadership, public service and contributions to community development in Ekiti State.
The prestigious honour is being conferred on Bakare by the Board and Management of Okemesi Tourism Village, Oke Asagba, Okemesi-Ekiti, as part of activities lined up for the 2026 Ekiti Parapo Festival.
In a formal notification signed by Chief Morakinyo Ogunniyi, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the 2026 Ekiti Parapo Festival, the organisers described Bakare’s record in office as worthy of recognition, citing her “outstanding leadership, dedicated service and remarkable achievements” as Executive Chairperson of Irewolede LCDA.
The organisers also recognised her contributions to community development, culture and tourism promotion, areas regarded as important to the growth and preservation of Ekiti’s heritage.
The award ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Afe Babalola Hall of Fame, Okemesi Tourism Village, Oke Asagba, Okemesi-Ekiti, with proceedings expected to commence at 12:00 noon.
A major highlight of the ceremony will also be the unveiling of a Special Commemorative Publication chronicling and celebrating Bakare’s achievements as LCDA Chairperson.
The publication is expected to provide a record of her tenure and contributions to grassroots administration, while the award ceremony will form part of the activities celebrating Ekiti’s cultural identity, heritage and tourism potential during the 2026 Ekiti Parapo Festival.
The Central Planning Committee has congratulated Bakare on the honour and expressed its expectation of her presence at the ceremony.
The recognition is expected to further highlight the role of grassroots leadership in promoting community development and preserving the cultural heritage of Ekiti State.
